When the seal in an insulated or double pane window goes bad, a lot of times you can tell by the condensation that builds up inside. Luckily, there’s no need to replace the entire window – we can repair it by replacing just the insulated glass unit.
An insulated unit is two pieces of glass trapped in a seal or band. When the glass it sealed, the air is vacuumed out of the unit, creating a dead air space. Many times this dead air space is filled with an argon gas.
When the seal fails and this gas escapes, moist air is drawn into the glass unit. Then when the temperature between the glass reaches the dew point, a point when the cooler air meets up against the warmer single layer of glass, it condensates. Hence, you begin to see moisture between the glass panes.
